Best engine for a Sierra-type game?

I want to make a game in the same vein as the Space Quest games but am unsure what would be the best engine to do it with. I need it to be able to work on text commands (like "look item" etc.) and if possible have the same achievement bar at the top that registers your actions as points. An easy to use system would be preferred as I am new to game development but I'm willing to try my hand at anything! The idea won't leave me alone until I try.

Adventure Game Studio is aimed for making the type of games you want and is easy to use. It is a very good place to start making games.

RenPy is more flexible but will require you to learn python; a very easy to use program language. It's also more aimed at visual novels that the adventure games that Sierra was known for.

Welcome to Game development in general. :)
